Curse You, Global Warming!

It is October 19. I should not have to close up the house and turn on the air conditioning at this time of year, even living in a swamp as we do. This is Not Right.

We've set a record for lack of precipitation in the Washington, DC area: no measurable rain in 35 days. It feels longer. Voluntary water restrictions in areas of Maryland north of DC have been stepped up to mandatory restrictions so locals who want to wash their cars will have to travel.

In an hour, we'll be heading out to West Virginia for a final weekend at the trailer. We'll winterize the beast and dream of returning next April for a new season of camping. sigh

ps. that is 13 degrees above normal for this time of year. i got brand new double pane windows with brand new "keep the skeeter" out screens. i should be able to open then up and enjoy fall weather...i mean really.

I wouldn't mind but the campground is officially closing this weekend. Since the winters in WV can be harsh, they need some time to blow all water out of the water lines as well as perform other annual maintenance & construction tasks before the frost hits.

Then again, how long will it be before there is no frost to worry about?

Shame on you two for not coming to dance with me at Peel the Pumpkin this weekend! And to think I went to both ACDC and Harper's Ferry last year. Harrumph.

:-)

Apparently you have all our heat. We are cold and have rainstorms stacked up in the Pacific waiting for their turn to dump on us.

Oh boy, something to look forward to next week!
It's unseasonably warm here too - mid to upper 70's this late in October is really weird for us. And dry too. The leaves are turning right to brown this year.
