do you spoze that the house fires are actually not really house fires? is it possible that buffalo (and environs) is so snoozoid that there isn't really a lot of news worth covering on tellyvision, so the teevee crews take it in turns to set up a model house, just a frame of 2x2s and painted paper "walls" and "roof", which they then set fire to, giving the other stations something to rush to and broadcast, film-at-eleven?
it would explain (I've made this same observation myself) why there aren't any burnt out house-remains in town, because the models would burn to ash, on an otherwise undamaged vacant lot.
it's only a theory, but it fits all the facts available to moi.
