A large part in the variance in prices on the flash drives is the speed at which data will transfer onto and off the device. A lot of the drives are being classed at 1, 2, 3, etc. So far, there is a 1:1 speed...class 1 drives are 1MB/Sec, 2 are 2MB/Sec, etc. Of course, since this is (as far as I can tell) an arbitrary system, that correlation might not stay true.
