Shopping!

On [livejournal.com profile] allanh's suggestion, I went shopping for Windows XP and/or 2000 on eBay this past week with the intent of upgrading my Win98 workstation. Win98 works perfectly well but I really want Bluetooth and USB flash memory functionality; the OS upgrade is the easiest path.

I have won a copy of XP for $45 USD on eBay although it hasn't been delivered quite yet. I was hoping to have it in hand today so I could upgrade the machine during one of my exceedingly rare free blocks of time, but it has only just arrived at the DHL depot in Rockville, MD. It will likely be on my doorstep when I get home from work tomorrow.

As of last night, I also won an allotment of 100 square dance 45 RPM records for $64 (including shipping). I doubt I'm going to like more than a dozen out of the entire stack but I could always add a few of my own duplicates & rejects to the stack and put my own bloc of 100 on eBay later.

It occurs to me that I should make a more comprehensive inventory of all of the records in my possession, whether I think they suck or not. Having such a list would not only be good for insurance purposes, but keeping it in my Palm would remind me when I'm shuffling through, say, a GCA for-sale stack which ones I've already heard & rejected so I don't have to waste time auditing them again. I'll tackle this later today if nothing more critical appears on the horizon.
