My own sense about Christmas is that it is about being with people who are important to you. Which is why I won't be seeing my family, but spending the day with friends. I have not bought or made a lot of gifts, just a few books for the kids in my life (though one is getting a sweater I'm knitting, rather than a book, but it won't be done in time). Also, being Italian, the other reason for Christmas was food. Lots of food. Hours of eating. I would give just about anything to have my mothers stuffed mushrooms again.
