Nothing To See Here
Mar. 19th, 2011 04:43 pmI decided earlier this week to get a bit more active in updating my cell phone.
Last night, I received an email from Verizon Wireless indicating their new 4GLTE network telephone, the HTC Thunderbolt, had arrived. Hoping to see one and learn what else might be in the pipeline, I visited our local VW store this afternoon.
I left disappointed.
Yes, they confirmed the Thunderbolt is in stock. No, I can't see one: they don't have any sales models on display. Yes, it is on the faster LTE network. No, there aren't any other models on that network and they don't know of any others in the pipeline. Yes, the Thunderbolt runs Android but sorry, it 's 2.2, not 2.3.
So I'm back in a holding pattern again, waiting for an Android 2.3 telephone with a front facing camera which runs on Verizon's 4GLTE network.
It apparently will be a long wait.
Addendum: Internet searches have indicated a few more LTE-capable telephones are in the queue, hopefully for the second quarter of 2011. These models include an unnamed Samsung model, the LG Revolution and the Motorola Droid Bionic. At the moment, I'm holding out for the Bionic.
Go ahead... ask me anything!
