The Waiting Game
Jul. 22nd, 2010 07:36 pmI've had a day of non-stop activity with work but I've reached the effective end: it's all waiting now.
Hewlett Packard is sending me a replacement backplane board via overnight USP. It should arrive some time tomorrow; I'll install it in the dead server on Monday.
Network Solutions owes me a wildcard certificate for a web project I've been assigned. They typically take 24-48 hours to validate the CSR and issue the certificate so I may have it tomorrow afternoon. I should certainly have it Monday. Installing it will take no more than two minutes anyway.
The same web project required our partners who own the domain name in question to update their DNS records. I've sent them the key information and now I'm waiting for them to finish. Since they're also in the eastern time zone, I don't expect them to do this until tomorrow at the earliest.
I fear that if I sit idle for more than 60 seconds currently, I will fall asleep at my laptop. I'm trying to fend off sleep for another 2-3 hours so I can sleep continuously through the night --provided the pager doesn't wake me up at 4am again anyway.
