Pile O' Convention Stuff
Apr. 5th, 2009 03:58 amHave I mentioned in the past nanosecond or so how much I'm looking forward to having our basement back?

The boxes in the foreground to the left are all related to the caller school. It's mostly 45 rpm records for sale or exchange, although the bottom box has has extension cords and misc hardware. There are a couple of boxes hidden on the far side of that stack which contain the newly purchased checkers and newbie caller kits from CALLERLAB.
The colourful flagpole bits and the blue suitcase are ceremonial crap which get passed from convention to convention. I consider it to be at best a waste of money and resources, at worst toxic waste. Chicago 2010, they're all yours.
The boxes in the back against the wall are all t-shirts and polo shirts. The boxes with black print are all water bottles and swag. The colourful items in the shopping bag on top are plastic sand pails we're going to use to solicit donations for All Join Hands at the trail-in dance and such.
What don't you see in this photo?
- Three sets of turntables, speakers & cables we need for the caller school;
- many boxes of stuffed registration packets which we left in the minivan after Thursday's packet stuffing party;
- more boxes of envelopes with swag tickets, t-shirt tickets, banquet tickets, brunch tickets, etc., sitting in the office;
- the volunteer t-shirts, host committee baseball caps and the souvenir pins;
- all of the computer equipment we're packing and tacking with us;
- the club banners which are stored with Steve & Rich;
- me, quietly freaking out.
Conventions take a lot of space before they ever even start.
