Busy, Busy
Mar. 28th, 2009 10:19 amI've just finished preparing and emailing the minutes from a convention planning meeting last Sunday. Our next meeting is tomorrow. Less than two weeks to the convention!
I've also been emailing out the latest update with links to our latest newsletter. We have 800 addresses or so, but I need to send out these broadcasts in lots of 100 per hour so that ISPs don't flag us as spammers. Thank god this is our last newsletter.
Registration envelopes were purchased yesterday, along with labels for the envelopes and the banquet/brunch table sign-up sheets: $166. Oy!
In the corner of the data center where I work, my employer has a pile of unused equipment. There were three older laptops among the lot but I couldn't find power supplies for them so they were effectively useless. While digging for other items this past week, however, I found the power supplies. Alas, no one at work can remember what the logins & passwords are for these machines. Figures.
On a whim, I brought one machine yesterday so I could try to either bypass the security or reformat the drive to resurrect the machine: it would be very nice to have a laptop at the data center to use rather than drag my personal one back & forth every day. To my astonishment, I was able to guess the login & password on my third try. Yay me, boo poor security. I'm updating the patches and antiviral software currently.
cuyahogarvr's brother & sister-in-law are visiting this weekend so I'm going to try to find time to be somewhat social.
