bjarvis: (sleeping)
I had some work at the data center again tonight. It was nice that my stuff was in the (relatively) early part of the evening but I also had a server build I had started earlier in the day which I wanted to finish.

Ultimately, I couldn't finish the build portion although I ended vastly ahead of where I was earlier in the day.

When I returned home a little after 3 AM, I remembered I had some somewhat timely items to tackle related to the upcoming IAGSDC convention. At this moment, I've knocked off the most pressing ones and now only have a small stack of issues to tackle tomorrow.

As we approach 4 AM, my contact lenses are drying out, I feel grubby and my body is signaling that a great deal of sleep would be very, very welcome. Time for bed.

bjarvis: (DC Lambda Squares)
DC Lambda Squares held their annual membership meeting this evening; in all it was pretty tame, all done in an hour.

We officially have 81 paid members with cash in the bank of $50,365; alas, there was a loss of $11k for 2008, largely from smaller class sizes and higher Harvest Festival expenses, as well as a $5k grant to DC Diamond Circulate. Even without the one-time grant, that's a $6k structural deficit the new board will have to address.

There's $4,028 in the Warren Jaquith Fund, a sum of money set aside to pay for dances, classes and membership dues (among other things) for dancers & callers in financial need.

Darrel Ertzberger (president) and James Ferguson (secretary) have left the board as their terms expired. Charles Taylor was re-elected as membership chair and Ronnie Roerig as at-large board member. Happy Doodle was elected president and Michael P. as the other at-large position while Olivia Pickett and Nick Mattera each have a year remaining in their terms as vice-president and treasurer. Joe Branch also joins the board as the class representative.

There's much on their plate for the next year and I'll be happy to help where I can --once the convention is history. I'm also looking forward to getting boxes of DCLS archives out of our basement, attic and storage locker. :-)
