Now I Get It.
Mar. 11th, 2009 04:43 pmI now understand why so many people involved in IAGSDC conventions leave square dancing entirely once their conventions are over.
It's not the exhaustion of working a part-time then full-time job for five years. It's not the ongoing series of meetings and preparations thereof. It's not even working at the convention for four solid days with few meals, little sleep and not a single opportunity to dance.
It's the hate mail, anger, vitriol and personal attacks from not only complete strangers but people who hitherto purported to be friends. I can deal with disagreements about decisions & policies but the insults directed at individuals is nauseating.
With apologies to Harry S. Truman, if you want a friend anywhere, get a dog.
