GCA callers were invited to sign up for calling slots this morning: one hall was Advanced & Challenge while the other was Mainstream & Plus. Both [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I recommended for the A/C hall as others had already expressed an interest in the MS & Plus, filling that schedule.

I called an Advanced set, sharing the hour with [livejournal.com profile] kent4str (C1), Mike Shagina (A2) and Drew Allen (C1). A lot of our A2 dancers during this hour were new to the level so we needed to do a lot of cuing but we had fun nonetheless. Both the C1 sets were very experienced.

Overall, this weekend has had some of the best C1 squares I've ever experienced. Yeah, it helped that Betsy and Tom were restricting themselves to easy-to-moderate difficulty and ignoring some calls of the level to keep it class-level for the Times Squares and Independence Squares C1 students. Still, every tip was a pleasure to dance. Betsy even retooled some of her C2 material to our DC class-level so the five of us from John Marshall's class could try a C2 set. I'm proud to say we didn't embarrass our ancestors at any time.

[livejournal.com profile] kent4str, [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr and I have packed and checked out of the hotel but we're staying to the bitter end so we can take the banners for the Independence Squares and the IAGSDC with us for the upcoming DC Diamond Circulate convention. We hope to be on the road around 2 PM or so and the weather holds for us.
