Dec. 25th, 2008 12:31 pmFor the past, oh, 12 years of employment in the US, I've maintained extensive work logs to record everything I've ever done on behalf of a client. Initially, it was to cover my butt if anyone should ever question an invoice when I was a contractor, but in recent years it was simply a good way of (a) remembering solutions for rarely-seen problems and (b) assembling the regularly required year-end performance self-evaluation documentation. I may not be the most exceptional staffer in the firm but half the battle for a superior evaluation is simply documenting what one has done.
When I left the firm a week ago, the crew gave me two empy logbooks as a gag gift. Yesterday, one of them sent this photo from my now-abandoned cube:
