bjarvis: (DC Diamond Circulate)
The past 24 hours has been largely dedicated to working on 2009 IAGSDC convention planning.

I've caught up on data entry for the registrations, currently at 430.

As of yesterday, there are 201 room reservations made with the Marriott Wardman Park totalling 1,018 room-nights. Our contract specifies a total of 2,110 room-nights. Anything less than 80% commitment (1,688 room-nights) would invoke the financial loss clause in favour of the hotel so we're about 2/3 of the way to the safety margin with seven months to go. Well, we're probably closer as the concierge rooms count as 1.25 regular rooms but I'm too lazy to sort out how many of those have already been booked.

The room block for Sunday, April 5, filled up quickly so we've expanded slightly; other nights still have lots of space. I've requested the current registration list of the GCA caller school so I can see how many have rooms already reserved and how many may still need to reserve a room; this will determine how much larger we may need to expand the room block. If you're planning to attend the GCA caller school and haven't reserved your room, please do so asap.

I've just finished going through our latest dance schedule, looking for beginning-of-the-block GCA caller guest slots. At the moment, we have 103 potential slots: 18 Mainstream, 14 Plus, 7 A1, 6 A2, 13 C1, 23 C2, 9 C3A, 6 C3B and 7 C4. Of course, not all of the potential slots are especially desirable: I'm not sure there would be much arm-wrestling to get a Saturday 10 PM calling slot. Still, this early draft has been e-mailed to Howard Richman for his perusal and feedback.

Barring last minute issues, we have the space allocated for the GCA caller school at the hotel as well. We're going to use the Washington Room of the Marriott, a large room subdivided into six smaller rooms with air walls. By placing the classes in rooms #1, #3 and #5, the rooms #2 and #4 will provide buffer space to minimize sound bleed. If the GCA wishes to use #2, #4 and #6 for its own purposes, they're welcome to it.

Whew. I'm done with this mess until after Labour Day.
