The Weekend That Was
May. 19th, 2008 09:03 amIt was a weekend of work and delights.
Saturday was all work: up fairly early in the day, our first hurdle was realizing that we had lost our land line dial tone and our DSL connectivity. Ugh!
cuyahogarvr,
kent4str and I spent the bulk of Saturday tackling the accumulated mess in the basement, cleaning out extra stuff from the tool room, the storage closet, the laundry room, the office and --my personal cross to bear-- the computer room.
Many items went to the storage locker but a large portion went into the trash and/or recycling bins. Indeed, both are nearly full. The results are fantastic though: place hasn't look good in years. I am taking particular delight in how clean the computer room now is, although there's still some minor work left to go.
We went to a community square dance hosted by the DC Lambda Squares very close to our house, calling by Dayle Hodge. We had nearly four squares in attendance;
kent4str and I helped sell $150 in 50/50 tickets, half of which supports DC Diamond Circulate 2009.
Sunday was largely spent being tourists with Ohio-based friends Tom and David. After collecting them and their luggage from their b&b in downtown DC, we headed to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum near Dulles, VA. Sadly, I have some photos but the place is so poorly lit that half had to be tossed.
The five of us enjoyed a late lunch in Crystal City followed up with ice cream. Food makes us very happy:

Top left, clockwise: Tom,
cuyahogarvr,
kent4str,
bjarvis, David.
After dropping the boys off at National Airport, we headed for home and resumed our cleaning & renovation activities. I hit a wall fairly quickly and took a badly needed hour's nap, but resumed sorting papers, washing countertops and generally sorting office stuff in the evening.
Our DSL was restored around 10 PM, so I immediately rebooted the computers and confirmed all of the services were functioning once more. With all made happy, I headed to bed around midnight.

Happy Anniversary to Us
May. 19th, 2008 01:35 pmIf it hadn't been for a telephone call from
kent4str's mother yesterday and e-mail from my own this morning, I'd have utterly missed that yesterday was our 12th anniversary.
12 years, no homicides... Yay!
