Last evening's rain has washed a large portion of the pollen out of the air, thank god. I was going to take a photo of my name written in the day's accumulated pollen on the windshield of my car but decided to find filtered air to breathe instead.

This morning, [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr and I dropped off our house guest Charlene at BWI. It was lovely having her here for a few days but playing host takes a lot of energy when there is so much work to be done. A return to our regular routine will be very welcome.

Alas, regular routines will have to wait another week. We're hosting a C1 square dance teaching session in our basement for three people who attended Ken Ritucci's recent C1 boot camp weekend. They still need to see about 1/3 of the C1 list although we have practised much of the rest. [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr are busy setting up the refreshment tables, cleaning up the guest rooms and generally making the house presentable to visitors once again, and I should go help.

The workshop should mostly be over by 8 PM tonight at which time the rest of the nightmares of the coming week will come crashing down upon us.

Around 11 AM, folks started to arrive for today's C1 workshop. Three of our club had attended Ken Ritucci's C1 boot camp last weekend but they had run out of time before they could cover about 1/3 of the C1 list. Today, we nailed the rest.

We split the day into two parts. Dayle Hodge called & taught the first three hour block; [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I took the latter portion. I had thought Dayle was actually going to be with us the entire day but he had already agreed with [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr and [livejournal.com profile] kent4str to help out during the morning only. I missed that memo.

While I prefer to be vastly better prepared, the list of calls remaining were relatively easy and we knocked those off in quick order. The remaining portion of the evening was spent dancing & drilling both the calls of today and the ones from last weekend.

During the three hour break between dance sessions, we had a brief planning meeting related to our upcoming Harvest Festival Hoedown in November, largely dealing with the dance schedule. There's more drafting to be done but the schedule is coming together nicely. Personally, the only big news is that I'm in charge of assembling a list of callers for the 2009 HFH (Yeah, [livejournal.com profile] billeyler, you're in the list. No guarantees though: the committee as a whole needs to vote on the finalists.).

It was a successful dance and the newbies are dancing very well. I'm exhausted though and am now looking forward to an evening of rest.
