Now Three Vials Lighter!
Apr. 3rd, 2008 11:48 amMy Dear Employer has annual health clinics at most of our office locations every spring. They'll check blood pressure and take blood samples for analysis, then mail the results to your home. Most importantly, completing the follow-up survey earns us an extra personal leave day.
Two months ago, the powers-that-be announced the opening of appointments for the health clinic at my location. I leapt on it within five minutes but still found all 50 appointment slots were already filled. I was a bit miffed at the time --I hate effectively leaving money on the table-- but dropped it.
Today is the clinic day. My cube neighbour mentioned that the make-shift clinic space was nearly deserted, suggesting I should inquire if they'd take me as a walk-in. Sure enough, they were happy to have me participate.
Within 10 minutes, I learned that my blood pressure is safely low and I'm now lighter by three small vials of blood. In a couple of weeks, I'll have the results of the tests and a month after that, I'll have my bonus vacation day.
