CALLERLAB Dues
Jan. 3rd, 2008 10:20 amDues notices were sent by CALLERLAB to both
kent4str and me.
The dues themselves are $105 and event liability insurance is $27 per person per year. The music licensing fees are contingent on the number of dances called: 50 or less per year and the fees are $43 for BMI and $30 for ASCAP but more than 50 is $58 for BMI and $58 for ASCAP. At the tmie the dues notice arrived, I had no idea on which side of the line we would fall.
Checking back into our accounting records, I counted our paid calling gigs for 2007:
Chesapeake Squares: 23 club nights
DC Lambda Squares: 16 club nights and 26 class sessions
Ettseteras: 2 dances
Puddletown Squares: 2 sessions (1 hour each for
kent4str & myself)
Zig Zaggers: 2 dances
Wednesday C1: 2 dances
There's a number of guest tips throughout the year but for licensing purposes are insignificant compared to the 73 events listed above.
For tax and accounting purposes, we split the total evenly between
kent4str and myself. That makes about 37 dances for each of us, rounding up slightly. Thus, I rationalize that we qualify individually for the lower CALLERLAB renewal rate of $205 per caller.
