In fact, the pair of us along with his youngest offspring spent a calm hour waiting in line with enough people to populate a small country, turning in his Ohio driver's license to obtain a fresh, new Maryland one. It was somewhat more exciting than it sounds, largely because of the sudden-death thrill of attempting to get into & out of the building unscathed: it appears that the very worst drivers in the entire state are clustered in the 100 meters immediately surrounding the MVA building. These included people who drifted through stop signs, ignored pedestrian crossings, drove while chatting on their cell phone, didn't stay in their lane, didn't use turn signals and a host of other minor ills. If a squad of traffic cops had been on-hand, the state could have made billions off the fines.
