Quick Update from Harper's Ferry
Nov. 10th, 2007 11:43 amI'm taking a short break from my duties at Harper's Ferry Hoedown 13 in West Virginia. Hilltop House now has functioning wireless Internet access! Yay!
We arrived in good time yesterday (around 2 PM, as scheduled). Checking in was a breeze and after shuffling some boxes and stationery, we soon had the registraiton packets stuffed and ready for distribution. People trickled in through the afternoon and evening. Dinner was a large buffet, all cooked very well.
I haven't danced much fly-in, but that's to be expected since I'm on the host committee. I did get my digital voice recorder out to record a lot of C1 material yesterday so I have some material to process & analyze when I have time next week.
This morning,
kent4str and I co-hosted a GCA calling hour. We had four callers lined up --Mike Shagina, Abe Feldman, Alan Hirsch and Ken Sale-- which nicely filled the hour.
Hilltop House has new owners who are plotting a large renovation & upgrade project. So large, in fact, it looked like they were going to buy out our contract for next year's fly-in. We learned yesterday however that the renovation schedule won't interfere with our fly-in so I had 150 copies of our 2008 registration form mass-produced for distribution. BTW, we have over 130 dancers, our larger HFH ever thus far.
LJ sightings: me,
kent4str,
cuyahogarvr,
deege,
zzbear,
discord35,
euchreman,
dancer44 and
lferri... apologies to anyone I might have overlooked.
