Am I Certifiably Insane Yet?

We taught a Mainstream class last night (Monday).
kent4str is calling for Baltimore tonight.
We were planning to go to C1 dancing in Arlington, VA, on Wednesday.
I'm calling MS/Plus for DC on Thursday.
Off to the trailer Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

That's a full schedule but manageable.

Late last night, we got word that Doren McBroom, the regular caller of the Wednesday C1 session, had a schedule conflict so the Wednesday session was cancelled. OK, that gives our schedule a bit more flexibility.

This morning, I was asked if I wanted to call in his place on Wednesday. As much as the home time might be nice, it's simply too great an opportunity to test-drive some new C1 choreography I have on-hand before springing it on a larger crowd, not to mention racking up more upper-level calling experience. I've said yes.

Now to see if we actually get a square of dancers together in time...

Square Dancing on My Night Off

It's been a productive evening so far.

One of my bigger concerns about my calling is that I tend to stick to "safe" singing calls, records I know intimately and are in a musical key easily within my vocal reach. There are about 25 in my set of favourites. While I'm continually searching for new candidates, additions are few and far between.

After procrastinating for months, I've finally found a block of time to examine the singing calls I had long since converted to MP3 formats. It took nearly two hours, but I've pitch-adjusted another 15 singing calls down to my range. Yay!

There are still a few for which I have look up lyrics --the Ceder database is suspiciously empty for some records-- but I should get to that in the next couple of days.
