I'm in our Urbana data center right now, sitting in my cube. I don't particularly want to be here but it is necessary because of the culmination of a particularly large project...
Tonight, we're doing the cut-over of a set of particularly crucial applications from a pair of Sun Microsystems E6500 servers configured with Veritas Cluster Service to a pair of V4900 servers. For the most part, tonight's work is simply finishing the prep work, reassigning the SAN LUNs to the new machines and running shakeout tests to confirm all is well. Still, I'll likely be here until 4 AM.
I was sharing the stage with several other callers tonight at a memorial dance for Warren Jaquith. My cold and sniffles nixed my participation early on: even if I could make myself heard clearly on stage, I'd be passing on my bug to everyone else. As saddened as I am that I couldn't participate, I believe this was still the wiser path.
Of course, now that I'm at the office, I could spread it to these folks too. At least I can isolate myself in my cube with a large box of tissues.
