Shopping in Toronto
Apr. 13th, 2007 04:31 pmWe crawled out of bed around 9:30 AM, the latest I've been able to sleep in for a couple of weeks. After making ourselves presentable to the world, we were on the road by 11 AM.
This day was largely dedicated to shopping. In particular, it was dedicated to the quest for a nice 80th birthday present for my grandmother. Using day passes we bought at the Pape subway station, we first skipped one station west to the Chester station to check out a stationery store which was recommended by friends near the Carrot Common. They had good stuff there but we decided to keep shopping and bounce back there again before closing at 7 PM if necessary.
From there, we headed down to Queen & Yonge, then walked east to browse through the pawn shops --a favourite hobby-- and then went south to St. Lawrence Market for a late lunch of peameal bacon on a kaiser roll --another favourite.
On co-host Chris' recommendation, we west east to the foot of Parliament Street to check out the Distillery neighbourhood. Lots of interesting shops although the area although not many shoppers at this time of day.
We ventured west to Union Station then began trekking north through the PATH, the underground shopping concourses. We finally found what we wanted at Essence du papier, blowing $90 for gifts, a nice pen and gift-wrapping. Utilizing our super day-pass transit powers, we headed back to the house where I am now writing up this small entry while
kent4str is relaxing upstairs.
Later tonight: 7PM LJ dinner at Hair of the Dog!
