DC Lambda Squares Update

Last night, DCLS had an annual general membership meeting for the election of board officers, by-law reviews, reports by various folks, etc..

Overall, things are looking good. Membership is up to 90 people, we have $54k in the bank and our 501(c)(3) status has been confirmed. Attendance at Harper's Ferry Hoedown was about 125, AC/DC about 120; we had a small profit on each.

We have a new board:
President - Darrell Ertzberger
Vice President - Happy
Secretary - James Ferguson
Treasurer - Nick Mattera
Membership - Charles Taylor
At Large - Tonja Ducrest
At Large - Keith Redding

DCLS has a community dance coming up this Saturday, March 24, 7-10 PM:
Location: Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Rd, Takoma Park, MD
Caller: Skip Cleland
Admission: $8 DC Lambda Squares, IAGSDC- or WASCA-affiliated club members.$10 for non-members. Square Dance widows are free.

Kent & I called two tips last night, a trail-in Mainstream tip just before the meeting convened and a class-level MS tip during the break as the votes were counted and folks topped up their refreshments. Both tips went very well... despite suffering the onset for some form of cold (or possibly an allergy attack, I'm not sure which yet), my MS patter was some of the best I've done to date. It's never a bad thing to make a good impression when the audience is larger than usual, especially when the year's new caller bookers and check-writers are present. :-)
