Jan. 12th, 2007
Happy birthday,
Jan. 12th, 2007 07:49 amDC Lambda Squares hosted an open house January 8. While I couldn't be there myself, I hear that attendance was excellent thanks to major recruiting efforts by Keith Redding. This morning, it was reported we have 14 newbies signed up for our Mainstream class sessions beginning on January 22... if you're interested, contact me!
In other news, we learned yesterday evening that DC Diamond Circulate, the corporation formed to run the 2009 IAGSDC convention, was notified by the IRS that they have issued an advanced ruling in our favour: DCDC is now a 501(c)(3)! This should help tremendously with our fund raising, especially applying for grants, soliciting corporate sponsorships, getting matching gifts from employers who offer such, participating in the Combined Federal Campaign, etc..
The application for 501(c)(3) charitable status was a personal project of mine. I spent large chunks of August compiling the information required, submitting our application at the end of the month. In early December, we received a letter from the IRS with eight questions asking for clarification on some points; I composed our responses and faxed them December 21 (with a snail-mail copy as well, of course). I'm personally thrilled this part of the project has been successful and the waiting is now over.
Now to start working on the online registration system and registration forms...
