bjarvis: (DC Lambda Squares)
The dance Saturday night in Takoma Park was fun although attendance was very light: we had at best two squares of dancers, largely because the New York City fly-in and a local film festival were siphoning off dancers. Bummer, but we had fun nonetheless. Kent & I sold enough 50/50 tickets to offer a $61 jackpot --I didn't win-- and contribute $61 towards the 2009 IAGSDC convention committee.

Caller Mike Callahan hails from the vicinity of Rochester, NY. His choreo was lots of fun and he managed our non-traditional role dancing with ease. Best of all, he hinted that a gay square dance club may be in the process of forming in Rochester! Yay!

I can't believe Sunday is almost over.

I didn't get a lot accomplished but my blood pressure is much lower than it has been in a while --although it'll be elevated again for the next several days. [livejournal.com profile] kent4str worked a little from home before heading to the office for a few hours. I caught up on paperwork at home as well as e-mail but it didn't feel very productive.

At 2 PM, I headed into Arlington to visit with Jeff M and savor a wonderful foot massage. Keith R popped over shortly thereafter and we went for a little walking tour --the weather was superb-- with [livejournal.com profile] kent4str joining us around 5 PM. We debated dinner options for a while before finally opting for El Salvadoran cuisine at Atlacatl along Columbia Pike in Arlington, just down the street from [livejournal.com profile] zzbear. We attempted dessert out by Seven Corners but were cruelly thwarted by the ice cream shop being closed. Weasels.

[livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I were home at 9 PM and I'm now catching up on LJ, e-mail, news and laundry. Whee.

The coming week is a nightmare:
Monday: teaching DC Lambda Squares' mainstream class solo ([livejournal.com profile] kent4str at a DC Different Drummers production meeting);
Tuesday: calling Chesapeake Squares club night in Baltimore;
Wednesday: C1 workshop in Arlington, VA
Thursday: clear
Friday: Possible happy hour with friends in DC... we'll see how tired I am.
Saturday: Working 1-10 PM on a disaster recovery exercise for work. Yay.
Sunday: Collapsing, then meeting [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and his parents for dinner.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
