Car Maintenance
Sep. 14th, 2006 10:09 pmWhen precisely did I become an extension of my car?
I notice to my surprise a month ago that after filling my car's gasoline tank and running it through a car wash during a lunch break from work that I felt washed, relaxed and stress-free, as though the car wash had been a half-hour massage. A little odd, I thought, and let it slip from conscious thought.
This afternoon, I took my Civic to the local neighbourhood equivalent of Jiffy Lube for an oil change. As they finished, I realized as I sat in my car doing nothing in particular that my calves and feet felt more relaxed than they have in weeks, as though I had been on the very pleasurable receiving end of a foot massage.
I'm not complaining, of course: anything to reduce my stress level is very welcome. I'm just a little surprised at the source.
Perhaps I should take care of that 60,000 mile service I've been avoiding, although I'll probably need someone to drive me home afterwards. :-)
