So I haven't posted anything since last Thursday. Spank me. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr flew into BWI on Wednesday evening and has been visiting with us until today, and we've had a blast together. He was mostly on his own during the daytime Thursday & Friday but we took him to square dancing at our regular club night on Thursday night.

Alas, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str was having some sort of inner ear infection causing him some balance issues & dizziness Friday & Saturday so [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr and I went off our own Saturday afternoon to be tourists in the Annapolis area of Maryland. Or at least we tried. Apparently there are only, oh, 15 parking spaces in all of Annapolis and all were filled. In the course of an hour, we drove into the state capital, drove around a little, found not a single place to park and left again frustrated.

Not wanting to waste the entire trip, we went on a little driving excursion of rural Maryland, heading north a little to Severna Park, then south towards Port Frederick before heading back into DC, across into Virginia, up the George Washington Parkway and east along the Clara Barton Parkway. There we went for a walk along the old C & O Canal before heading back to the house to check in with [livejournal.com profile] kent4str.

Saturday evening, we headed to the HRC's building in downtown DC for a DC Lambda Squares community dance with (woofy) caller Gary Monday.

[livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I sold $200 worth of 50/50 tickets to raise money for the 2009 IAGSDC convention committee; a few extra dollars were also raised by selling of soft drinks & bottled water. In all, there were a little more than three squares of dancers on the floor, not a bad turnout for this time of year in downtown DC. There were no attendees from Baltimore, one downside of the otherwise fabulous space provided by HRC. Gary was lots of fun to dance to, but alas our A2 dancers were not in good form that particular night and we had frequent breakdowns. The Mainstream and Plus tips seemed pretty smooth though.

Sunday was largely spent in Baltimore. We were late getting out of the house so we didn't get to the Walters Art Gallery but we did have a great time at the inner harbor area and Federal Hill park.
