Basement space regained!
Dec. 11th, 2005 11:27 amAbout 1.5 months ago, our new washer & dryer were installed in the basement laundry room. I've been utterly delighted with the new toys --I have a load of laundry being washed as I type this-- but disposing of the older washer & dryer turned out to be harder than I had imagined.
There doesn't seem to be any charities anymore who are willing to take used large appliances. I suppose the profit margin isn't worth the effort... they only seem to be interested in small kitchen appliances like toasters or blenders, or larger toys like cars or trucks. Go figure.
A month ago, the washer was given to one of the team members who clean our house each fortnight. A few months go, friend Jerry sold his house in Falls Church, VA: the new residents were looking for a cheap full-sized dryer for their basement laundry room. After some scheduling hiccups, they came to collect the dryer from us this morning.
With the old toys gone, I can now get to the freezer easily! Whee! And nothing had to be junked: the old appliances will serve someone else for the rest of their functional life.
Yeah, so I'm easily amused. Quelle surprise. :-)
