Keeping Myself Busy
Nov. 17th, 2005 10:22 amWork has been slow lately since the Sun 6800 crash on Tuesday. I've had a few inquiries but for the most part, it has been business as usual through all of Wednesday and so far on Thursday. Pray to the semiconductor gods that this continues.
I've been keeping myself busy though... I have a stack of A2 square dance audio recordings from ACDC 2003 and ACDC 2004. Some months ago, I converted these tapes to MP3s for our club archives but it dawned on me just recently that it's a priceless collection of A2 calling study material too. I've been listening to each tip, listening for timing, mentally walking through the choreography and taking note of body flow & handedness as I transcribe each tip into MS Word. So far, I've gone through 10 tips of Mike Jacobs and am working on the Anne Uebelacker collection. There's still another 60+ tips of Betsy Gotta, Geo Jedlicka, Rob French and so on.
I'm definitely seeing now a lot of nuance I didn't catch when I was dancing in those same tips, so I'd like to think I'm absorbing something. If nothing else, my typing speed is improving.
Speaking of square dancing, I selected three out of 25 ESP records I won on eBay recently for use; Kent pulled out two more last night. He also selected two from the box of 100 we bought on eBay a month ago and found three others he wishes to purchase. I'll take care of digitizing whatever is needed tonight while he's at chorus rehearsal.
