A productive evening
Aug. 24th, 2005 07:18 pmWork was rather uninteresting today. The only spot of interest was that I was the only one from my team working out of our Urbana, MD, location as the others were transferred to Reston, VA, to cover for the staffing shortage caused by vacations, training, family leave, etc.. Still, despite being a one-man shop for a day, nothing of note happened.
There were, however, lots of happy items waiting in the snail-mail and e-mail for me at home.
Our tickets for the upcoming gay rodeo weekend Sept. 9-11 were in the mail. Lots of hot shirtless men. Mmmmm. Photos from past years are on my web site.
The photo albums and additional inserts I ordered arrived. I haven't filed any of the photos from 2005 yet for lack of an album which could hold 4x7 and panoramic prints. I did however keep up with the mark-ups on each photo as they were developed: each print has the name of the people in the picture, the event & place it was shot and the date & time. Now I just have to arrange them into chronological order and stuff them into the albums.
I've received e-mail confirmation for Kent's Sept. 3 birthday present: two tickets to see "Betty Rules!" at the DC JCC in mid-January. He's a big Betty fan... I'm sure he'll like these. I just hope he takes me with him. :-) I also received e-mail confirmation from the co-trailer trash that our birthday party plans for Kent are on track for the Labour Day weekend at Roseland. I still need to get a couple of other presents, but the tickets will be the centerpiece.
Also in e-mail was the registration confirmation for both Kent & me to attend Unison 2006, the Canadian gay & lesbian chorus festival in Vancouver next May. And just a moment ago, the e-mail confirmation for our suite reservation for May 19-21, 2006, arrived. And best of all, I paid for the registrations & reservations with my TD-Canada Trust visa so the greedy bastards who issued my U.S. cards won't get a chance to levy a surcharge for purchasing outside the U.S..
And 15 minutes ago, I won the eBay auction for a copy of QuickBooks 2005 for only $50 which I'll be using to track revenues & expenses from square dance calling. I was outbid yesterday on a similar package when the bidding approached $60 so victory today is particularly delicious.
Life is good today.
