Today is the first real day back in the office after working night shifts this past weekend. I was here technically yesterday, but only for a half-day and even then my brain was still trying to figure out if it was time to sleep or work. I'm definitely in work mode at the moment. Unfortunately, in less than 90 minutes, I completed all my must-do tasks for today. Now I'm really bored.

Our intranet publisher/editor, Jack, is on vacation this week so I'm subbing for him in my spare time. I'm tempted to redesign our entire site to make it, oh, usable. I'm also tempted to rain fire & brimstone down on all of the current user doc authors who have (a) written not to instruct but to cover their own butts, (b) failed to keep their materials current or complete, and (c) never bothered to spell-check, proof-read or fact-check their materials. But I must remember that I'm a placeholder for Jack and shouldn't utterly destroy his colleague relations in his absence, no matter how deserving.

Screaming, crushing crowds, injuries... all for a chance to buy a 4 year old used iBook. What is wrong with these people?

Dayle is off in California so Kent & I called solo for Chesapeake Squares tonight, and I think it was a success.

I used two numbers singers I haven't used in Baltimore before; Kent used one new one and some older materials. The patters went fairly well, particularly my last tip. The final singer had some minor problems but everyone was in a giggly fun mood so no harm done there.

Gotta get some sleep now.
