you know, putting an X in a box on a piece of paper with a pencil and then putting the paper into a ballot box to be counted later works really quite well. we use it all the time in Canada. Low tech, leaves a tangible trail for re-counts, and it works. no malfunctioning machines, no hanging or pregnant chads.
(yes, I realise that you vote all at once on several contests. so put an X in a box on each area of teh page. or have multiple (colour coded?) paper ballots. it's low tech, and it works.)
