Sweet Jesus...

If one more person comes by my cube with a critical must-be-done-by-yesterday project, I'm gonna go postal.

Two such people tried that crap so far today. I sent them away disappointed. The next one will be made into a warning to all subsequent intruders.

Just hang a large gruesome, bloody crucifix over your cube with a sign that reads "tread lightly". Believers and non-believers alike will get the message, an no mess for you to clean up.

The next project request that comes by, I think you should stand up, raise your hands in the air, and animalistically scream as loudly and incomprehensibly as you can. Gibbering is good. Then you start moving slowly towards the person asking the question, and begin to reach out as if to strangle them...

I think they'll get the message.

A repeat poster on a web forum for a Mozilla Extension I support asked "Can you please advise why this is happening and how I can fix it ASAP"

The Bear was not pleased with that 'ASAP'. Especially when it was obvious that she was trying to run the installer as the installed application. And her earlier thread pointed her to the Windows step-by-step installation instructions she was ignoring.

I let her know that 'ASAP' shouldn't be used, the folks who are providing online support in forums such as this do so as volunteers, and that she wouldn't like the bill for ASAP response.

Hey, there's an idea... I'll start charging individuals for express service. If they want their project done yesterday, it'll cost; otherwise, it goes into the stack with the others to be tackled when I get time.

Let the market decide! :-)
