Actually, the transit system worked with our pin and chip cards as they were designed, at least when we were just adding money to the card. No signature required, just choose your additional amount, insert your card, verified, remove card. Worked like a charm. Also, some of the souvenir shops at the major tourist attractions were able to work with our pin and chip cards without requiring a signature.
