Always having to get signatures for US cards is a great annoyance to European merchants. Everyone else's cards are chip & pin, ours are chip (occasionally with pin that appears not to always work over there). Usually ticket machines such as with transit systems won't take our credit cards at all, though ATM cards usually work in those cases (as debit cards).
At least that's the way it works in Europe, soon not to include the UK.
