I've never been to Chicago and my stay in Minneapolis/St Paul was years ago and far too brief. Boston felt comfortable in a "warm sweater" kind of way but, like Halifax, it didn't energize as much as relax me; I could live there comfortably I think, but it didn't have the particular flavour of stimulation and challenge I sometimes crave. Austin and Houston were tremendous fun, but I suspect the summers would kill me: I was built for cold. I'll be in Portland in another six days or so... I'll let you know what I find. :-)
