Lazy Sunday

My Sunday could be described in two parts, neither of which were particularly exciting but nice in their own way.

I didn't sleep in as much as I did on Saturday. At some point around 9:30 AM, my body decided it had had enough rest and it was time to get up. OK, the batteries are charged to 100% but I wasn't exactly bubbling over with enthusiasm.

As soon as convenient, we returned to working on the master bathroom. The appropriate edges of the door frame, the counter tops, the shower tiles, etc. were all taped and we went to work painting a primer coat on all of the exposed wallboard. The overall painting portion took far less time than I anticipated. After a short break, we carefully pulled up the tape and began the clean-up. There's still bits of paper fibre from the wallpaper removal all over the floor, the tub and the shower tiles, but once the paint has fully dried, we can steam & soak off the remaining bits easily. We were done by 2 PM.

A couple of hours later, we headed downtown to see Over The Hedge with Jeff M. at the MCI Center cineplex. I had somewhat low expectations for the movie and wasn't prepared to spend money for it, even at a matinee rate. Kent and Jeff were keen on it though and since Kent volunteered to pay for it (I paid for Saturday's movie tickets), I agreed to let myself be dragged along.

A good thing too: it was a much funnier movie than I had anticipated. Not as good as "The Incredibles" or "Finding Nemo" but pretty good nonetheless. It's a solid performance to which you can safely take the kids, esp. at the matinee rates.

We opted for mongolian barbecue for dinner following. I was reintroduced to MB in Vancouver with [livejournal.com profile] rlegters and [livejournal.com profile] tdjohnsn; I had forgotten over the years how much I loved that stuff. Tony Cheng's in DC is rather expensive, but it was very good. I do have to find an MB restaurant somewhere closer to home.

Jeff had a surprise for me: he has a spare Utilikilt which doesn't fit him overly well so he offered it to me. I think it's a little long for me but just a little: someone with better sewing skills than me would probably be able to hike it up an inch without difficulty. (Kent has already refused: he doesn't like kilts to begin with, and isn't keen on the difficulty of taking up such a large quantity of cloth.) Don't know how much I'll actually wear it, but the price is right so I'll give it a shot.

Today won't be half as exciting... I have a stack of meetings through the late morning and early afternoon with a dental cleaning at 3:15 PM. Whee. :-^

mmmmmm.... I love Mongolian BBQ. We have a few places out here but it isn't as "in" as it was in the late 80's early 90's. I need to drag myself back out to one soon. Yummy!

I've always thought MB was "okay" but it never really wowed me. I'd go, but it's not likely to be something I'd go out of my way for. Oddly enough, I like Chinese broccoli better than MB. ...that and sweet & sour chicken /drool
