Ack, you're right... I was just off the telephone with my parents and was still thinking about what my parents are paying (on the order of $1.15 CAD/litre) rather than the $2+ USD/gallon here. I've correct my LJ entry.
I suspect the more expensive places around the greater DC area are now above $3 but I haven't confirmed that directly yet. Fortunately, I now work in Frederick County which has slightly lower taxes than Montgomery County where I live, so I'm still paying "only" $2.599 near my office.
Only five years ago, I was paying $0.78/gallon (no typo: less than $1). Ah, the good old days... :-^
