Bush's spokescritter/press secretary Scott McLellan resigned yesterday. The first thing that cross my mind was simply: "What took you so long?"

This had the single ugliest job in the American federal civil service. What kind of life must you have when you accept a position where you're required to lie on camera to the entire planet almost every day? Your primary responsibility is to cover the ass of your boss and answer for his errors because the boss isn't smart/brave/honest enough to do the job himself. Bush is spending more time on vacation than any prior president; surely he could knock off a few vacation days to hold a press conference himself regularly rather than hiding behind the wood shed. True, Scott could always count on his friends at Fox News to take him out for a martini after work, but the rest of the news media routinely attacks him like a piñata almost every waking hour of the day --and justifiably so, IMHO.

Some free advice to Scott:
You're unemployed now. Do yourself a favour: go somewhere on the planet where no one knows or cares who you are and simply read a few good books for a month. Rediscover your humanity, especially since you've been separated from it for a few years now. When you're ready, go do something useful & constructive for a change.

Maybe he backed up his humanity on a separate partition.

Well we know he wasn't doing it for the money (or the nookie.)

Your personal concern for Scott's humanity and well being shows that you are a better person than I am.
