Our Camping Season Begins!
Apr. 17th, 2006 03:34 pmThe trailer is now fully de-winterized. The water & power were reconnected, the battery re-installed, the water lines flushed of antifreeze, the interior cleaned top to bottom, the anode in the water heater replaced and the new barbecue was assembled, among other minor tasks. We still want to rebuild the bottom step of the deck stairs and replace the bedroom ceiling vent with a bidirectional fan unit, but those can wait until the next trip.
I discovered where my favourite flannel shirt had vanished: when we cleaned out the trailer and winterized it last October, somehow I neglected to grab the laundry bag from the bedroom. Doh!
There were only 30 people in the campgrounds the entire weekend, most of whom we knew. I thought we'd have more people out in April but perhaps the easter weekend was keeping everyone busy with family events.
We had thunderstorms and heavy rain Friday night but we were cozy inside. Saturday had a couple of light sprinkles but otherwise it was a fine day. Sunday's forecast turned out to be much nastier than reality: driving conditions home were practically ideal.
I had some additional fun experimenting with my camera. I was particularly impressed at the quality of the photos from the moonlit shots on Saturday evening, one of which is included below.
Our next trip will likely be in mid-May.

Date: 2006-04-17 08:37 pm (UTC)Pittsburgh is close. It's also just south of Wheeling, although I'm not sure the driving distance since there isn't a non-winding 100' stretch of road anywhere in the state.

I wore it to the company picnic which was themed "Scios Ranch."

Date: 2006-04-18 01:43 am (UTC)a paper bag? LUXURY! why when I were a lad we thought ourselves lucky to have a folded sheet of newspaper folded into a hat - that was what kept us from the rain. And no shoes, only flip-flops, even in winter.
you were just lucky and didn't know it, lad.
how pretty and disappointing all at once
Date: 2006-04-18 01:50 am (UTC)BUT... you distinctly talked about bears running naked, and then there was even a picture entitled "full moon", and ...well, I'm disappointed. (sigh)
(or did you just not post those pictures???

and will photographic evidence get posted for those of us poor geographically-disavantaged ones who can't see 'em -er- in the flesh? please?
