Visiting Toronto!
We're arriving in Toronto around lunchtime on Friday.
On Friday evening, we're taking our hosts John & Chris out for dinner in the vicinity of Pape & Danforth... anyone want to join us?
Saturday morning, we're hitting the St Lawrence Market, then touring through the downtown.
We have the afternoon & evening with family in Mississauga near the airport. I'm not sure how late we're staying but we might be able to meet up with friends for a drink or dessert afterwards --
We have no plans for Sunday morning or lunch but we have to head to Niagara Falls, NY, in the mid-afternoon. If my grandmother can't join our family gig in Mississauga Saturday, we may need that time to go visit her directly in Drumbo, ON. TBD.
To those I haven't mentioned explicitly, I offer a pre-emptive "oops" and beg your forgiveness for being a little scatterbrained at the moment. I'm still getting over some jetlag and am up to my ears in work-related stuff before furiously packing Thursday night for our Friday morning. Contact me to arrange a get-together and I'll grovel further in person. :-)

You Canadians do lovely little cities. :) I'm a big fan of Vancouver, Montréal and la Ville de Québec.
good news - bad news - good news that cancels the bad
I'm very glad to hear that you'll be back in the great white north (where we've had a milder winter than you did) and would love to get together -- and indeed to meet
bad news:
However, I have sad, tragic news. The Swiss Chalet on Bloor at Bedford (which was the mothership, the Very First Swiss Chalet Ever) has not been there for several years. It was demolished, was a hole in the ground for a long time, and is now the site of an almost-completed very high priced condominium tower.
redeeming good news
but never fear! there is one at 700 University Avenue, at College (that's the old Ontario Hydro building/ Hydro Place, not sure what it's called now that Ontario Hydro has been split into two crown corps). I b'leeve it's in the lower food court/ shops area. (all this from www.swisschalet.com)
I've not actually eaten at that branch, but it's closer to moi at College & St George than the one up on Bloor St was. And I have even MORE reason to celebrate, as tomorrow (ie the day before you visit) I have my last lab teaching contact until after Labour Day.
So, I've written you into my datebook for Friday, and I'm using ink!
= = = =
some humour from This Hour has 22 Minutes: "Congratulations to the Americans for their new Health Care Bill. Now get yourselves some hockey players and some better beer and you just might be on to something!"
in all seriousness: that's good news. See you Friday!

I was reading this post without my glasses and thinking how lovely. Then, I came to the final sentence. I read ... Contact me to arrange a get-together and I'll grovel further in prison. ... LOL!
Have a great time!
HUGS!
