Done!

The deck staining is now complete as far as needed. That is, the stairs, the platform and the visible exposed services are now all stained so the thing looks pretty good:

We may yet break out the spray gun again to use the can of non-matching brown stain for the underside, just to give the wood a little more protection against the elements, but then again, we may leave that for another trip.

I'm so glad this task is done.

Very nice! I'm curious ... Do you ever take the trailer on long trips/vacations or does it stay at Roseland?

When I was a kid, we spent many summer vacations and weekends traveling in our truck camper or in our 5th Wheeler trailer. Takes me back to see your pictures!

HUGS!

The trailer stays at Roseland. We don't personally own a vehicle capable of towing a trailer of this size. I cringe to think of the work & maneuvering that would be required to get it off this hillside site, not to mention back in place again without ramming the deck.

Besides, the lot where it is located is paid for with an annual flat rate... during the summer, we get our money's worth by keeping it right where it is.

It looks like a wonderful place to relax and get away from it all! Enjoy!

very nice, very nice

a most sturdy looking deck - it could probably support the trailer should some wingnut with a short temper be tempted to push it down the hill with his SUV. Joshing aside, any more news on the wingnut who did that up the hill from you?

Hope you are going to treat the hubby (and stain-courier) to many treats for his birthday yesterday

No additional word on our local trailer-ramming nutcase. The last I heard, there was a warrant for his arrest; unless he went into hiding really well, he was surely caught several days ago.

The place looks great!

Nice deck.

Really.

Impressive.

tongue in cheek

my, what a big...deck, you have.

[identity profile] cpj.livejournal.com 2009-09-05 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
How deep are the concrete footings?

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2009-09-08 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Off hand, I'm not sure how deep the footings go. We contracted the deck construction through the campground management --no choice there unless we wanted to do it ourselves-- and weren't around for the construction itself. The guys who built it aren't at the campground any longer but I might be able to dig up their email address.

That's weird. But I take it you have inspection papers then, and a sign-off from the city that everything's okay.

We lease the lot so the campground management retains the paperwork as property owners.

That's one hell of a deck you got there, mister. Disproportionately huge for the body it's attached to, but in a good way.
