Car Insurance?

We've been using Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance for our house and car policies for several years. While I can't complain about their service --they've been very responsive on our minor claims-- I thought I'd shop around to see if I can find cheaper policies.

Anyone have recommendations (or anti-recommendations) about which insurance company to use?

I've been with Progressive/Drive for years now, but don't have any experience with their claim division. I asked them to stop calling me asking about my experiences with Progressive, since I had never filed a claim with them. The administrative portion always goes fine; just a click on my BillPayer through my credit union.

We have used nationwide and hartford... both good companies.

I have Chubb for everything, and had them for homeowner's in NYC too. Their homeowner's service is top of the line; I added the auto on because they gave me a break as a homeowner's policyholder.

21st Century and - yes, even though I despise their radio ads - GEICO.

I just want to throw a rock through my TV when I see that fkin gecko with the damned annoying Brit accent.

I think it's supposed to be Australian.

The fact that you remember the ad shows that it's effective ... unfortunately.

Which also reminds me how annoying I find Billy Mays "Mr. Orange Glow." I used to think he was cute, but now think of him as just annoying. Perhaps he needs something stuck in his mouth :)

Been berry berry happy with State Farm for both home and car.

Ditto, ever since I started having my own (as opposed to my parents') policies. They were with State Farm when I was a kid, too.

I'm with deege -- I have Chubb for everything. Great service.

Formerly Nationwide, now State Farm

I made the switch to State Farm about six months ago - I just got my first car renewal, and it actually went down a few dollars.
For me, it was the same price for car insurance, unless I moved the whole bundle (car, home and umbrella).... when I did that the car came down by $400 per year and everything else stayed the same....
