I Weep for the Future

Last Saturday, DC Lambda Squares had a dance at a local middle school. On the wall, lovingly crafted by some teacher, was the following:

There were other hand-crafted signs and announcements around the room with spelling and grammatical errors. This one was the single most egregious.

reminds me of the Metro Bus boo-boo with the stickers that said "Go to class - it a blast!"

This reminds me of the teacher I used to know who usually ended sentences with prepositions.
Where are you at?

Used to annoy the hell out of me every time.

Teaching in public schools has become so unrewarding that the people who train for it are among the least capable. It isn't just because of the mind-numbing content of "education" curricula or the low pay -- it's because there is very little autonomy. Good young teachers tend to give up and leave.

I've seen worse...by teachers, yet!

How do you know that it was a teacher, and not a student? That would be slightly less depressing.

But only slightly. :)
