Off to New Jersey!

We're about to hop in the car for a leisurely drive up to New Brunswick, NJ, to attend The 2008 Gathering of the Northern New Jersey Square Dance Association. It's a day-long mini-convention of square dance & round dance callers & cuers. The schedule of events looked interesting and it's a great networking opportunity.

I like the idea of The Gathering, very upbeat sounding! You are lucky to be living in an area where there is a concentration of square (and round) dance brains.

Would that we lived in an area with more than one caller per square 1000 miles! There are only about 10 active callers in NM. Add that to the distance to major metro hubs from anywhere in the state and we're...remote.

I'm sure you and Kent will be very proactive with the group!

For the most part, I didn't have much to say.

Kent and I were among the youngest people there... it looked like a meeting of AARP. There was a lot of really good information available for new club officers and callers, but not so much for those who have been to similar events or CALLERLAB conventions. Next year, I may try to put together a minivan-load of club officers from DC and Baltimore so they can divide up the sessions amongst themselves and make a day of it.
