Job-Related Dreams
I don't dream very often, at least not that I remember. This morning, I had two distinct dreams, both related to jobs.
1. I dreamt I was in charge of presenting documents to Elizabeth II for her signature. In effect, it was a sub-role of her private secretary: incoming documents which required a signature --laws, treaties, gov't documents and such-- came to me to be sorted by priority. I then had to travel to wherever she was daily to prepare a desk at which she would sit following lunch and before tea in which she could comfortably come by, sign on the appropriate line and then go off to her next engagement. I would then collected the signed documents and send them on to the appropriate offices. In my dream, the two of us would talk semi-casually about the piles needing her signature, joking about their contents; I'd always be on edge to ensure I dare not say the wrong thing at the wrong time for fear of offending her.
2. The second dream was longer. I was presenting myself at an elementary school as a newly-minted student teacher. Actually, the school was my own elementary school in Charlton, ON, updated and slightly larger but still the same building. (In reality, that old building isn't a school anymore, but let's not have that get in the way of a good dream).
After a quick introduction with the handful of fulltime teachers in their lounge, I was ushered into the principal's office to chat. She and I had a lengthy discussion about my qualifications and goals as a teacher, the needs of the students, my familiarity with the community and such. I was especially well-spoken and confident, if I do say so myself. Our chat stretched to nearly an hour. I woke up before she gave her blessing to my presence in her school but I'm confident I had won her over.
