2009 Convention Stats

We have 326 registrants thus far. 322 dancers, 4 non-dancers; 254 men, 72 women.

25 people want vegetarian meals, 129 chicken and 162 beef.

2 are coming from Japan, 32 from Canada and 292 from the US.

96 people have confirmed fun badge tour seats while 11 are still pending payment. That leaves 158 still to go.

We have 2 Mainstream dancers, 55 Plus dancers, 1 A1 dancer, 103 A2 dancers, 64 C1 dancers, 58 C2 dancers, 16 C3A dancers, 10 C3B dancers and 7 C4 dancers.

One A1 dancer! Tee hee!

Yeah, I'm not putting much credit in that, esp. since they'll have had a full year to move up to A2. Of course, heaven knows how many folks will have started their Advanced track from Plus by that time...

I'm also not surprised there's only 2 Mainstream dancers: new dancers hardly know a convention exists let alone be willing to pre-register a year or more in advance.

I was surprised by the number of C2 dancers though. And the preference of beef over chicken.

Yes, the top-heaviness of the levels one year out doesn't surprise me. Hopefully, there will be a slew of new dancers register next year that haven't even started the activity yet!

I'm sure that in many ways, this will be an A&C convention, with the entry levels poorly represented (although of course dancers mix and match and dance ALL the levels generally, often following favorite callers, rather than stick to one hall the whole time)

I always prefer the chicken dishes to the beef ones, notwithstanding the old 'rubber chicken' stereotype.

I was going to say wow, you're very male heavy, but then I think I recall that it's a gay league, and all made sense. :-p

Eureka!
