No Economic Stimulus for Me

I just tried the IRS' economic stimulus payment calculator to see what, if any, stimulation I might hope to receive.

I knew the rebate would decrease for anyone with an AGI above $75k, but I didn't know by how much or at which point the stimulus would become $0. I still don't know that, but the calculator indicates I made too much money in 2007 to qualify. Bugger.

Ah well... I can still mooch off of [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr.

In other news, Zimbabwe has just announced their $50,000,000 bill as they struggle to cope with inflation exceeding 100,000% per year. According to the article, this new denomination is worth about $1 USD and would buy about three loaves of bread.

My immediate thoughts were:
- $50 million bill?! Wow!
- 100,000% annual inflation?! WTF!
- three loaves of bread for only $1 USD?! I paid too much at Safeway!

I'm not getting one either, and I'm the kind of person who would immediately spend it. Go figure.

I confess I wouldn't have spent mine, at least not immediately. If the check arrived in the mail tomorrow, I'd be torn between putting it into US savings, putting it into Canadian savings or putting it against the equity line on the house.

I'm a bad economic stimulator. :-(

The bad news is that you are not getting a rebate... the good news is that you are not getting a rebate - it means you made a lot of money last year! Although my job title is IT Manager, I am guaranteed the maximum - that's the wonder of working for a University :-)
