Missed the Target

I've been spending more time composing A2 square dance material for an upcoming dance January 18. I'm very pleased with the expansion of my database of tried & true figures but I'm focused right now on incorporating new ideas and suggestions, pushing my boundaries a little.

A couple of my figures were very nice and seemed to satisfy my goals but alas, they have a severe flaw: upon examination, I found they didn't include a single A2 call. I've just spent a block of time effectively composing a handful of very nice A1 figures. Not that most dancers will notice or care, but that's not my goal at this particular moment.

Back to the drawing board.

I'm calling Mainstream for the DC Lambda Squares tonight, my first calling gig since prior to xmas. It'll be nice to be back on the mic again.

Most callers seem to have a shortage of A1 material, so tuck that away!

When writing cards, I like to have a list of the calls on hand so that I can try to incorporate most of them at some point. Even with that, I sometimes manage to omit some. (Some on purpose, LOL.)

Yeah, I'll just move the figures in question to my A1 stacks and start again.

I keep copies of the call lists in my backpack, my office desk, the laptop bag, my home computer desk and a few other places... never know when one might need inspiration: hmm... haven't used *that* call in a while...
